Overview
CatchPin helps you log fishing catches, pin spots on a map, and browse a local feed of catches. This policy explains what data the app uses and how it is handled.
Data we collect / process on your device
CatchPin is designed as a local-first app. In the current version, catch logs, profile name, photos you attach, and map/spot data are stored on your device (for example via on-device storage). We do not operate a CatchPin cloud account system in this version that uploads your catches to our servers.
Depending on features you use, the app may access:
- Location — to tag a catch or show spots on the map (only when you allow it).
- Camera / photo library — to attach a photo to a catch (only when you allow it).
- Profile info you enter — display name and initials for your local profile.
How we use data
- To show your catch feed, map pins, and spot details in the app.
- To remember your preferences on that device.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use catch photos or location for advertising in this version.
Sharing
We do not share your CatchPin catch data with third parties for their marketing. Device OS vendors (Apple / Google) and map providers may process location or map tiles under their own terms when you use maps. Expo / Apple may receive standard crash or diagnostics data if you enable system sharing; that is controlled by your device settings.
Children
CatchPin is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app if you are under 13.
Retention & deletion
Because data is stored on device in this version, you can clear it from the app (Profile → clear data, where available) or by deleting the app. Uninstalling removes local CatchPin data from that device.
Future versions
If we add cloud sync, accounts, or social sharing, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent before uploading personal data.
Your choices
- Deny location or camera permission in iOS Settings; core logging may still work with manual entry.
- Clear local data in-app or delete the app.
